Nazere Beach Walk, March 13, 2023
Nazare beach stretches 1.5km from the massive cliffs to the fishing harbor breakwater. But you can walk around the fishing harbor and continue your beach walk a further 1km on a beach that is totally deserted of buildings or people, which of course we had to do. It was nice to feel so isolated when we accessed the second beach as we were the only ones there. Headed back into town and our condo where we relaxed with a glass of wine on our balcony before getting ready for dinner at a local diner.
Nazare beach is regarded as one of the best beaches along the "Silver Coast" as it is sheltered from the strong Atlantic winds and currents. We started our beach walk at the headlands and proceeded southward to the fishing harbor and beyond.Nazare beach and the massive headwall with the town of Sitio sitting along the cliff-top
Along the breakwater that protects the fishing harbor looking back at Nazare beach
On the other side of the fishing harbor is a wonderfully deserted beach with no buildings or people
Since we were the only ones on the beach we had to take a selfie
We had dinner at Restaurante O Casalinho. We read that it had a plain décor but a solid reputation. It was a very casual looking place but the staff were very friendly and helpful. And the food was excellent. I had the Golden Bream which was simply served with potatoes and a side salad.
Rita had the Octopus with potatoes and vegetables. Very tender and flavorful. We washed it all down with an excellent local white wine that was recommended by our waiter. A great ending to a lovely day
