Beach Walk Redux, March 04, 2023

It rained overnight and was cool and overcast when we woke up but started to clear later in the morning so we headed out for our second 12km walk of Meia Praia Beach.  The sun finally came out half way through our walk and stayed for most of the afternoon, which allowed us to have lunch on our roof top deck before heading into town for a little retail therapy.

After 4km you come to a stone breaker protecting the beach from the Odiexere River on the other side.  At this  point we took our shoes off and committed to dipping our toes into the Atlantic Ocean for the first time on this trip.  The water is very cold but you soon get used to it as we walked back along the waters edge.

The stone breaker seems to create a situation that allows thousands of shells to congregate in one place after being washed ashore.  Not sure why this happens but it is a sea shell collectors dream.  We saw several people with semi-filled bags looking over the piles of shells.  We found a couple of unique shells to take home as souvenirs.

Even though it remained overcast their was no wind and the temperature was 16c so we had a very nice lunch on our roof top deck.
