A Little Hidden Gem in the Algarve, February 28, 2023

As we have spent several days exploring around Lagos its time to expand our horizons to find other little gems in the Algarve.  One of the places we wanted to visit is an old fishing village called Salema (Sah-LAY-mah).  The fisherman are almost gone as there are only a few weathered fishing boats left but Salema has a gorgeous beach in front of it and that has started to draw in the tourists and surfers.  We really liked the vibe of the place even though it only has three beachside streets with no real attractions other than lounging in the sun or enjoying a good meal or drinks on the deck at one of several well reviewed restaurants.  After getting back to Lagos we showered and changed as we had a reservation at Camilo Restaurant.  We had made the reservation a couple of days ago when we visited Camilo Beach.  It is rated as one of the best seafood restaurants in Lagos.  And it certainly did not disappoint.  What a delicious way to end a perfectly lovely day.

Walking up one of the three narrow cobblestoned streets that make up Selema.  Most of the fisherman's houses have been modernized and renovated to rent to tourists.

Looking from the edge of town which is on a hill down at the rest of Salema on the right and the ramp where the fishing boats go in and out of the water every day.

We went along the beach as far as we could before turning around and heading back to Salema.  You hear nothing but the crashing of waves and not a soul in sight.

The Fresh Seafood Bar at the Comilo Restaurant where you go with your waiter to pick out what you would like for dinner.

Rita and I chose the Madagascar Langoustines above and the local Red Shrimp below and split them between us.  It was a fantastic meal and would highly recommend visiting this restaurant.
