Meia Piraia Beach Walk
Again we woke up to overcast and drizzly rain but it only lasted until the early afternoon when the sun came out again. Our planned trip was postponed and so a good walk in the immediate area was needed. We headed back to the largest beach in the Lagos region, Meia Piraia Beach, at 4km long. It was a wonderful walk as there were hardly any people on the beach.
We finally dipped our toes in the Atlantic Ocean. It is not cold but it definitely is not warm. Locals swim in the ocean everyday and many tourists take the plunge but this is as wet as we wanted to be.
Seashells on the seashore. There were literally thousands of different size and colored shells scattered on the beach near the end of a break wall. This was just a very small sample.

Looking back from where we had come from with Lagos in the far distance and knowing we had to walk back another 4km before heading back home. This wide, sandy beach is bound by grassy sandbanks which creates a buffer zone from all the tourist developments, When you are walking the beach you feel very isolated and all you can hear is the sound of the waves coming ashore. Its was a very peaceful experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our long beach walk.
