Lighthouse to Beach Walk

We made our way back to the Ponta da Picade Viewpoint as we read about a walk along the cliffs heading west that takes you to a beach called Porto de Mos.  It was a spectacular 15km walk along rugged 50m high cliffs leading down onto a beautiful bay and beach.  Another stunning day in the Algarve.
Looking back from the cliff trail at Ponta da Piedade Lighthouse completed in 1913.

Rugged terrain created by the winter rain, storms and pounding surf eroding the sandstone cliffs.

The Ponta da Piedada Lighthouse in the far distance as we make our way along the cliff top trail.

Praia do Porto de Mos Beach is the second largest in the Lagos region.  We had a lovely walk along the waters edge before heading back along the cliffs you see in the background.

Porto de Mos Beach below us as we head back along the headlands for home.

After a hot shower, we changed for dinner as we had a reservation at Cafe do Mar Restaurant which is perched on a bluff over-looking the sea.  We had an amazing sea bass dinner for two which was served at our table.  We washed it all down with a lovely bottle of a crisp local white wine.  A perfect end to a perfect day.
